My PhD thesis dealt with the role of biochar in modifying the environmental fate, bioavalibity and efficacy of herbicide fomesafen in soil to see how biochar can change the side effects of the pesticide on soil such as plants and invertebrates. Up to know, it has been presented that biochars are usually able to immobilize chemicals which could be considered as a promising way to decline the bioavailability of tested chemicals to plants and soil invertebrates. However, their effects on cultivated plant and soil invertebrates have not been well studied. Therefore, we are going to do some research in this area to understand a little more about biochar-pesticide interactions in soil compartment.
