Professional Profile: • A self-motivated and scientific minded professional with over 10 years R&D experience in biological wastewater treatment process and solid waste digestion and waste management • Extensive knowledge of scientific research and techniques on bio-energy production from waste stream • Hard-working individual in team based environment, and acquired strong organizational, communication, problem solving and trouble shooting skills in R& D relation • Well published, goal oriented researcher and passionate on continuous improvement and learning Research and Development is focused on: * Biological wastewater treatment * Biosolids management * Bio-energy production from organic waste streams Operated R&D projects: - Improvement of settleability, dewaterability, and sludge thickening of activated sludge of a full scale meat rendering plant wastewater treatment system - Conducted a pilot scale project on aerobic digestion of biosolids at Rothsay, and implemented this technology to its full scale WWTP, resulted in a cost and energy savings to the company - Developed a pilot scale model for biogas production from agricultural and activated sludge waste substrates by anaerobic digestion: determined the rate, yield and composition of biogas production from different mixed substrates; evaluated the pretreatment of feedstock for enhanced gas production - Developed an Integrated fixed film activated sludge systems(IFFAS) for improved nitrogen and micro-contaminants removal from municipal wastewater - Managed a collaborative project on membrane technology for improved wastewater treatment process: operated sequential batch reactors (SBRs), analysis of water quality, and membrane foulants properties during the treatment - Screening, production (lab flask scale to pilot scale), purification and characterization of an industrially important enzyme tannase (tannin-acyl- hydrolase) by solid state fermentation using agricultural waste residue as substrate Special Interest: * Bio-conversion strategies for enhancing the value of waste streams and include the application conventional and hybrid bioreactors for recovery of value added products production from wastewater and biosolids * Incorporation of secondary sludge into as a digestion feedstock towards the production of added value chemicals and bio-energy * improvement of digestion technology for the production of value added chemicals and bio-energy from organic waste streams
