I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and was raised in La Guaira, living by the Caribbean shore where I spent most of my time surfing and playing baseball. I received his BS in chemistry in Caracas form the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela and PhD degree in Photochemical Sciences from Bowling Green State University in 2008 for my work on sensor arrays and fabrication of nanoscopic sensors. After graduating I joined the group of Prof. David R. Walt at Tufts University as a postdoctoral fellow were I pursued research in bioanalytical chemistry and infochemistry. I have authored eighteen peer-reviewed articles, in well-recognize scientific journals. My publications have accrued over five hundred citations and my work has been highlighted in several occasions by the specialized and mainstream media, such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe and the BBC from London. I joined GE Global Research as Analytical Chemist with background in sensing materials, in the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering organization.
