Former Director of the Solar Thermal Energy Department of the National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain (CENER); Chair and Full Professor of the Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Brownsville; Director of the Plataforma Solar de Almería of CIEMAT the largest European testing facility for CSTP technologies; Principal Investigator of the SOLGAS and SIREC tower technology R&D projects, which paved the way towards PS10, the first commercial solar tower power plant in the world; Advisor to the President of the Andalusian Energy Agency; and member of the International Test and Evaluation Team in charge of the evaluation the International Energy Agency (IEA) Small Solar Power Systems Project.
