Marcello Sanò is Research Fellow at Griffith Centre for Coastal Management, Griffith University, Australia with formal collaborations with universities in Australia, Spain and Italy. He specialises in coastal planning and management, climate change adaptation, integration of engineering, policy and the community. He holds a PhD from the Universidad de Cantabria, Spain and a MSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the Università degli Studi di Genova, Italy. He has published in leading sectoral journals and presented his work in conferences worldwide. He is currently lecturing in Coastal Zone Management and Climate Change Adaptation at Griffith University, and has been invited as a guest lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Spain, Italy and Australia. He has been active in coastal research and consultancy projects in Europe, the Mediterranean, Australia and, more recently, in the Pacific. Current research interests include vulnerability assessment of coastal systems, coastal policies analysis, complex systems thinking and climate change adaptation.
