Dr. Beato graduated as DVM from the University of Bologna. She is currently PhD candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine, Molecular Pathogen Unit, London (UK) In 2005 She joined the National, FAO/OIE Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza and Newcastle disease and the OIE Collaborating Centre for Diseases at the Human-Animal Interface at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie in Legnaro (Italy). Her scientific interests include viral zoonotic diseases, the development of the DIVA vaccination strategies for poultry using conventional and molecularly engineered techniques, the investigation of different aspects of a virus life cycle in order to develop new approaches to diagnosis, control and prevention of Avian Influenza. She has been involved in several research projects, both at a national and international level, among which the coordination of two OIE twinning projects. She has authored and co-authored over 20 publications on peer-reviewed journals and national and international publications and proceedings.
