About

Mariano Rico is a Postdoctoral Researcher (funded by National Spanish Research Ministry under Juan de la Cierva Programme) at the Ontology Engineering Group (OEG) of the Artificial Intelligence Department (DIA) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He is also Honorary Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department (EPS) of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). During 2010-2013 he was a postdoctoral Teaching Assistant at EPS-UAM in the GHIA Research Group. In 2010 he was a postdoc researcher at EPS-UAM and Associate professor at the Telematic Engineering Department in the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). From 2003 to 2009 he was a teaching assistant at the EPS-UAM. Mariano holds a MSc (Physics, 1992, Fundamental Physics Specialist), a Master degree (DEA) in Computer Science and Telecommunication (2004) and a PhD in Computer Science and Telecommunication (2009), all of them from UAM. He is accredited as Contratado Doctor since 2010 by the spanish quality agency ACAP. His research interests are focused on Semantic Web, Virtual Worlds, Human-Computer Interaction and Web Technologies. From 1992 to 2003 he worked on R&D centres of private companies as software engineer and project manager in New Technologies areas. He had two predoctoral stays at Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI, Galway) in 2004 and 2005, where he also was Erasmus Teacher at National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG).
