About

Martha R. Mahard is currently a Professor of Practice at Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science where she teaches courses in the management of photographic archives, art documentation, and preservation management and digital preservation. Ms. Mahard is Co-Principal Investigator on the 3-year grant project Curriculum, Cooperation, Convergence, Capacity..., funded by IMLS. Before moving into full-time teaching Dr. Mahard was Curator of Historic Photographs in the Fine Arts Library at Harvard University. During her 35-year career at Harvard she was instrumental in the development and implementation of their online union catalog for visual materials. She holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Library Administration from Simmons, and is an active member of ARLIS/NA, the Visual Resources Association, and the Society of American Archivists.
