Plant Cytogenetics Plant Breeding Genomics Epigenetics Evolution

About

I am a Plant Cytogeneticist, graduated in Agronomy in 1998, and PhD. in Genetics and Plant Breeding in 2003. Since 1994 I have been working with Plant Cytogenetics, mainly focused on Breeding Programs and Genetic Resources. During my graduation I worked with chromosome stability in regenerated plants from embryogenic tissue culture and orchid's cytogenetics. After my graduation I began to work with Molecular Cytogenetics in the genus Crotalaria (Leguminosae) focusing on genome evolution of diploid and poliploid species. In the recent years I have been working on chromatin strucutre - Epigenetics - firstly to understand differential expression of ribosomal genes. Nowaday, I am working chromosome structure, mainly centromere, of Medicago truncatula, using different approaches since bioinformatics to immunodetection and FISH with the Prof. Heslop-Harrison and Schwarzacher. My joint projects include plant and animals as: black-pepper, Eucaliptus, cotton, Triatoma (insects), mice and others.
