About

I am primarily interested in understanding how biologically-based personality traits, such as impulsivity, convey risk for addiction and substance misuse. I am particularly interested in the neuropsychological and cognitive mechanisms involved in this process, and how they develop during adolescence – a time when substance use typically begins. During the tenure of my National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Early Career Fellowship, I will develop the first human laboratory model of adolescent impulsivity and alcohol use. The model will allow new psychosocial treatments to be tested in a cost-effective manner whilst simultaneously elucidating their mechanism of action.
