Miguel A. Alonso graduated in Computer Science from the University of A Coruña (Spain) in 1993, where he started his research career. He spent a year at the Ramón Piñeiro Center for Research on Humanities (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and then a year at the Rocquencourt research unit of INRIA (French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control). Since 1997 he has been a member of the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of A Coruña, where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2000, and since 2003 he has been an Associate Professor at that university. His research work focuses on Natural Language Processing and its application to Information Retrieval and Text Mining (particularly Opinion Mining and Sentiment Analysis).
