About

Minas N. Kastanakis is Assistant Professor of Marketing at ESCP-Europe since 2010, where he has also been a visiting Professor since 2008. In this function, he teaches courses at postgraduate level in Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Research, Product and Sales Management. He has completed his PhD in Management at Cass Business School, City University, UK (2010) and also holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of London, UK (2001) as well as a Law Degree from the University of Athens (1999). His research interests include the role of self-concept, consumer values, and personality traits as predictors of consumer behaviour; lifestyle and psychographics; consumer nostalgia and retro branding; aesthetics; symbolic consumption and identity; luxury products; communication and advertising; marketing and law; marketing models; various research methodologies, such as survey research, experiments and in-depth interviewing; as well as diverse analytical techniques such as structural equation modelling and content analysis. Minas has authored various (currently - 2011: working/under review) papers - stemming from his Ph.D. research on the consumers of luxury goods - presented at academic conferences such as the 2009 London Business School Trans-Atlantic Conference, the 2010 Academy of Marketing Science Conference (USA), 2010 European Association for Consumer Research (UK), 2010 Global Marketing Conference (Japan) and the 2010 Association for Consumer Research (USA). In addition to his academic profile, Professor Kastanakis has extensive managerial experience with large corporations - such as L'Oréal - as well as an independent management consultant. He is also a trained and qualified Barrister. He has worked in Russia, Central Europe, UK and Greece – in various different sectors such as luxuries, FMCG, real estate, banking, venture capital investments, and telecoms.
