Dr. Khalifa works currently as Health Analytics Researcher at the Centre for Health Informatics, Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He worked for 5 years (2012-2017) as Consultant and Director of Medical and Clinical Informatics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is also a Part Time Instructor at the AUC – American University in Cairo, Egypt, teaching Health Information Management, Healthcare Management and Healthcare Quality Management. He worked as an Independent Consultant for Health, Medical and Clinical Information Systems Projects, Healthcare Management Projects and Healthcare Quality Management Projects since 2002. Dr. Khalifa served at many consultant jobs for both local and international healthcare organizations and health information technology and systems vendors. His current work is focused mainly on developing the utilization of health information resources in improving the performance of hospitals and healthcare services through evidence based operational and strategic healthcare management. He has many publications on improving healthcare performance using health analytics and informatics applications. Besides academic undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, Dr. Khalifa works in the field of training healthcare professionals on using health information resources and health analytics. His main areas of research include; developing healthcare management and healthcare quality management, hospital information systems and electronic medical records development, implementation and evaluation, clinical decision support systems, e-health and telemedicine. Dr. Khalifa got his MBBCh qualification – Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery from Ain Shams University in 1999, Post Graduate Diploma of Healthcare and Hospital Management from the American University in Cairo, Egypt in 2004 and MSc – Master of Science in Health Informatics from The University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom in 2012. His PhD research at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia is about “Utilizing Health Analytics in Improving the Performance of Hospitals and Healthcare Services”. Dr. Khalifa is an MRCSEd – Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and he is also a CPHIMS – Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems, an Accredited CPHIMS Trainer and an Advisor on the Technical Committee of the CPHIMS exam, HIMSS - Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, United States. Besides being a registered member in the HIMSS and the AHIMA – American Health Information Management Association, United States.
