Dkhar has done Masters of Science in Water Resources Management from TERI University and a Bio-technology graduate from North Eastern Hill University. He is currently working with Center for Himalayan Ecology and Water Resources Policy and Management, Water Division at The Energy and Resources Institute, New Delhi on research related to sustainability of Himalayan Ecosystem, climate change impacts and adaptation, integrated water resources management, waste water management, water audits, aquaculture, drinking water and sanitation. He is an integral member of TERI Glacier scientific expeditions, where data for black carbon concentration, glacier mass balance, energy balance, water balance and quality is collected and analysed. He had analysed the positive as well as negative impacts of climate change on aquaculture industry and identifying opportunities towards adaptive sustainable aquaculture in India and Norway. He had worked on climate change impact and generating adaptation strategies focusing on no regret solutions such as sustainable water supply, better agricultural production, resource conservation and protection and augmentation of existing resources. He is a team member for the project funded by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India to develop Environment and Social Management Framework for Ganga Basin. He has worked on optimizing waste water treatment plants and in identifying the global best practices in context of Common Effluent Treatment Plants. He has also worked identifying the impact of sanitation on tourism. He has worked on Water, Energy, and Climate Interactions for identifying issues and assessing response capacity at the state level. He was part of the TERI & NDTV team for the evaluation of water quality status of river Ganga. Climate change impact and generating adaptation strategies focusing on no regret solutions such as sustainable water supply, rainwater harvesting, efficient bio mass stoves, sustainable and improved agricultural production, resource conservation, protection and augmentation of existing resources 2.
