I am a vegetation ecologist with a background in nature conservation and landscape planning. My research primarily addresses the consequences of human-induced environmental change on plant biodiversity. In my Ph.D. project, I studied spatial and temporal changes in taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic aspects of plant biodiversity and scrutinized the driving forces that generate and maintain the observed biodiversity patterns. My Ph.D. project was funded by the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS) and supervised by Martin T. Sykes and Honor C. Prentice (Lund University, Sweden) and Peter Poschlod (University of Regensburg, Germany). Previously, I have been working with species distribution models, predicting range shifts of mountain meadow plant species under climate and land use change in Saxony, Germany (supervised by Carsten F. Dormann and Dagmar Haase at the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ, Germany) and Sabine Tischew at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Bernburg, Germany)). I have also been involved in a research project (with Carsten F. Dormann), quantifying components of uncertainty in species distribution models.
