Originally born in Nigeria, I proceeded to South Africa in 2006 to pursue my PhD. I obtained a PhD in electrochemistry in 2009 from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. I am currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Chemistry, University of Johannesburg. My research focuses mainly on the application of electrochemistry to solving biomedical, water and environmental challenges. I develop electrochemical biosensors for the detection of pathogens such as HIV, cholera; and also for other analytes such as organic and inroganic water pollutants. I am also into the application of photoelectrochemical system in water treatment. Nanotechnology is a strong component in my research and I have used materials such as dendrimers, metal nanoparticles, quantum dots etc to enhance the performance of the electrochemical systems I develop. I love helping people and seeing people around me happy. Apart from academics, I am a missionary and I am very busy for God too.
