Received the Electrical Engineering and M.Sc. degrees from the Universidad Simon Bolivar (USB), Caracas, Venezuela, in 1995 and 2002, respectively. He got the Ph. D. degree at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), Porto, Portugal, in 2008. He was with the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (INESC Porto), Porto, Portugal. Professor at USB (2002-present). Since 2012, he is full professor at Conversion and Energy Delivery Department at USB. Head of USB's Energy Institute 2010-2014, Visiting professor at Coimbra University, Portugal, 2014-2015. Research activity include several journal papers indexed at WoS and more than 50 papers published in international and local peer-reviewed congress. Research interests includes technical and economic issues of energy systems. Project manager in several engineering projects for oil and energy industry (more than 30,000 man-hours) 2007-2014.
