About

I have long-standing interests in medicine, development and politics in Africa. I took a BA (Hons) in African Studies with Development at the University of Birmingham from 2003 to 2006, either side of which I worked in Tanzania and Nigeria. Having previously worked primarily in sexual health and HIV prevention, I developed an interest in HIV treatment, particularly in Northern Nigeria. I pursed this with an MSc by Research in African Studies at the University of Edinburgh, and then with my doctorate in the Human Geography, entitled "Life Extended: The Intimate Politics of the Antiretroviral Era in Northern Nigeria".
