    About

Peter Smith was born in 1959 in the outback town of Broken Hill, and now lives in Noosa, Australia. He is a graduate of The Photography Institute where he received near perfect scores for his Diploma of Professional Photography. Peter continues to be inspired and gain inspiration from the old Masters, such as; John Constable (British Painter 1773 - 1837) William Turner (English Painter 1789 - 1862) Louis Buvelot (Swiss born, Australian Painter 1814 - 1888) Through his artworks Peter combines form and colour to bring to life the innate beauty of the landscape, while remaining true to classical realism with a naturalist component. Peter has been interested in the art of capturing light from an early age. Having trained under some of Australia's most respected photographers and now a master of his craft Peter sits comfortably amongst his peers of The Australian Institute of Professional Photography, having been awarded numerous national and international awards for his images. What you see is what you get with Peter; art is at the core of his life, resolutely passionate about the craft and people, Peter’s easy going manner will have you quickly at ease like an old friend. Exclusively for you, Peter invests countless hours in the creation of unique masterpieces. It is from this synergy of instinctive flair, craftsmanship, and Peter’s soulful interpretation of light that unreservedly unique masterpieces of true exclusivity and genuine character emerge. Why I do what I do - It's really quite simple; “I love the whole experience of creating and seeing the smile on a customers face when they connect with an image.” Feelings created in an image begin from researching the location, lens selection and understanding the mood that the location gives me and expressing this feeling in the image I create. I don’t try to run a business, or be all things to all people, I leave that to others who love what I do and choose to support me. The old masters, created one final image. Even with hand copying, then the invention of the printing press and mass production, that image had a name, the original. "This is what I do; I create originals, no copies, no duplicates. Just one!" Just as life is unique, I create my images as one of a kind, a frozen moment that connects with the emotions of another, you. I match images to individuals that fall in love with a feeling that the image brings to them. A feeling that takes them to a place they cherish. When I create an original, I spend whatever time is required. This attention to detail ensures the feeling I want the image to convey, the quality of the image and the experience to be cherished by one. When I print an original, I want it to last. I have selected the finest archival papers and inks available, and for framing I have established a strong relationship with Art Land, a Framing Company with a disguised history established over 30 years of business. You will not be disappointed. I believe this is the way it should be, one print that lasts not just for a lifetime, but for generations. I truly care about the images I create. It's my life. Peter Smith "Imagine owning the only one."
