About

In 2006, I graduated from the faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. During my M.Sc., I specialised in fluid dynamics and for my thesis, I worked on an advanced numerical method for uncertainty modelling. For this work, I visited the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University for several months. After this, I joined the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London as a Ph.D. student under supervision of Professor Sherwin. My research involved the development of a new computational fluid dynamics solver (Nektar++) using state-of-the-art high-order numerical methods. Early 2010, I moved back to Belgium and started a position as a post-doctoral researcher at the atmospheric modelling group of the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). Initially, my research was mainly focussed around urban air quality and the effect of trees on the urban air quality. Now, as a researcher at VITO, my interests are more and more shifting towards smart and sustainable cities.
