Pietro Ducange received the M.Sc. in Computer Engineering and the Ph.D. in Information Engineering, both from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. From May 2014, he has been Associate Professor at the eCampus University, where he teaches Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining. He is the director of the SMART Engineering Solutions & Technologies (SMARTEST) Research Centre and the coordinator of Business and Computational Intelligence research group at the same university. He has co-authored more than 40 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. Over the last years, much of Prof. Ducange’s research work has concentrated on Computational Intelligence, in particular on the application of evolutionary algorithms for designing fuzzy rule-based systems. Currently, the research activity of Prof. Ducange regards also data mining for large and big data, particularly in the context of social sensing and social mining. Currently, prof. Ducange serves as associate editor of the following international journals: Soft Computing (Springer), International Journal of Swarm intelligence and Evolutionary Computation (OMICS Group) and International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Soft Computing.
