About

Rajesh S.V. got his Ph.D. in archaeology from the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2012. Dr. Rajesh S.V. was a Global Heritage Fund Saraiya Post Doctoral research Fellow at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2012. From 2009 onwards he is working as a team Member in the IMF-CSIC, Spain and M. S. University, Baroda collaborative project titled “North Gujarat Archaeological Project (NoGAP)”. He worked as a Research Assistant in the RIHN, Kyoto and M. S. University, Baroda collaborative project entitled Gujarat Harappan Site Gazetteer Project in 2010-11. Then he worked as a Documentation Associate in the Government of India (GOI) Project National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (NMMA) at Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, M. S. University of Baroda (2011-12). From 2013 onwards, he is directing a long term International Multidisciplinary Archaeological Research project entitled Excavations at Navinal, Kachchh District, Gujarat and Explorations in Kachchh District Gujarat. He has participated in 15 archaeological excavations (Prehistoric to Modern sites) and 21 archaeological explorations (Prehistoric to Late Medieval sites) in various parts of India and Sultanate of Oman. In 2006, he has participated in an Advanced Archaeological Training Programme jointly conducted by the Ministry of Culture - Oman, University of Pennsylvania - USA, University of Bologna - Italy and University of Paris – France at RJ-2, Ra’s al Jinz, Sultanate of Oman. He is a lifetime member of the Indian Archaeological Society (IAS), New Delhi and Indian History and Culture Society (IHCS), New Delhi. He is serving as a Co-editor of Heritage: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies in Archaeology, published by the Department of Archaeology, University of Kerala. Rajesh S.V. has made substantial contributions in the areas of Indus Civilization, field archaeology, artefact analysis, ancient technology, origin and development of urbanism in South Asia and inter-regional interaction networks. So far, he has published 21 research papers in refereed national and international journals and edited volumes. He has presented 29 research papers in various national and international conferences and also attended 9 national and international workshops.
