About

Raphaël completed his graduation in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias of Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2009. His Master degree in Bioengineering and Nanosystems was developed at Instituto Superior Técnico of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. Raphaël's Master thesis was successfully defended in October 2011 with the theme "Electrospun nanofibers for human stem cell cultivation". Between October 2011 and March 2012, Raphaël was carrying out voluntary work in the Stem Cell Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory at IBB-BERG-IST. Since March 2012, Raphaël is working in 3B's Research Group, first with a Research Grant under the OsteoCart Project, followed by a second Grant under the NOVOMAR Project. Now Raphaël is enrolled in his PhD project, supported by a scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. His project has been developed in 3B's Research Group from University of Minho and in collaboration with BAMM Lab from Stanford University. The researcher aims to develop a in vitro platform to be used as an automated system for drug discovery process. Using this system, Raphaël is developing an osteochondral in vitro model to study osteoarthritis.
