Professor of computer science at the University of La Réunion, Indian Ocean, France Prof. Rémy Courdier was head of the Computer Science and Mathematics Research Laboratory of the University of Reunion Island from 2003 to 2007. He has a strong Background in software engineering by working in R&D Teams of international IT Companies such as Digital Equipement Corporation and Schneider Electric. His research and extensive extracurricular activities combine interests in artificial intelligence, sosio-technical systems modeling and decision support. In 2009, he was Co-organizer of CRIMES (the first francophone workshop on Networks, information technology and Multimedia convergence for e-services). He has been a regular session convener at JFSMA (francophone conference on multi-agents systems) since 2005. In 2013, Prof Courdier was invited as Academic visitor at the Imperial College London to participate at the « Digital City Exchange » Research Programme, a cross-sectorial investigation of city resources and services, optimizing the way cities are designed, managed and used. In 2014, he was the General Chair of 22th edition of JFSMA, workshop which constitute a privileged forum for exchange between researchers from different francophone scientific communities worldwide on multi-agent systems, artificial intelligence, artificial life, distributed systems. He also joined the Steering Committees of JFSMA in 2014. He is currently co-editor of a special issue of Systems on « Agent-­Based Modelling of City Systems » and contributes to the organization team of the workshop on Citizen-Oriented Autonomic Computing and Technologies for SmartCities (COACTS) at IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing (ICAC’2015). His research interests include design of simulation applications using multi-agents systems and infra-structures required for their use. He contributed to the design and the development of the GEAMAS multi-agent platform. Rémy Courdier received The Ph.D. degree in computer science from Nice Sophia-Antipolis University (France), he defended an accreditation to supervise researches projects and teams "Habilitation a Diriger des Recherches (HDR)" in 2003. He is university professor since 2008.
