Dr. Fischer is a Research Wildlife Biologist in the Environmental Laboratory (EL), U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). His areas of expertise include riparian zone ecology, restoration, and management; ecology and management of resident and migrant birds; and threatened and endangered species. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 peer-reviewed, conference and in-house papers; presented more than 60 papers at national and international conferences; and trained over 1,000 Federal and non-Federal natural resource managers as lead instructor in 30 national and international training courses.
