Press and Democracy; Media Leadership; Ethnicity and the Press
I am currently working on a PhD degree on the topic: The Press, National Elections and the Politics of Belonging in Nigeria.
This study probes the claim that the Nigerian press may have played a far more significant role in the formation of the Nigerian nation-state. I seek to investigate, outside the commonly accepted but limiting role of the press in the agitation for independence, what other real contributions the press made in the forming of the post- colonial identity and character of the modern Nigerian state.
I am also working on a four volume book of interviews with Eighty-Five Nigerian Media leaders. The book series is titled Voices Beyond the Newsroom. The four tittles should be out by Fall this year.
