About

I am Director of the World Economic Forum Programme Development Team. In this role I lead the programme design and development of the Annual Meeting in Davos in Switzerland, the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China, and the World Economic Forum on Africa. Before joining the World Economic Forum, I worked at the ILO, the UNDP Office of Development Studies and in the private sector where amongst others I founded a successful online community platform. I hold a Master and a PhD in economics from Witten/Herdecke University, Germany, and a Master in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics. My research interests include the social, economic, and geopolitical implications of globalization and technological change, as well as cross-sector solutions to global challenges. Since 2012 I am a visiting professor at the University of Geneva. Follow me on Twitter (SeBuckup) if you are interested in select readings and updates on these topics.
