Shesh Kafle has more than 20 years’ of professional experience in the program design, planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring & evaluation of disaster risk reduction, early warning system and organizational development programs in the South and Southeast Asia. Has strong technical background in program design of Community Based Disaster risk Reduction (CBDRR) programs, institutional capacity building of local government authorizes and host Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) partners, formulation of strategic plan for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, strengthening of multi-hazard early warning systems, risk assessment, training facilitation, curriculum development, hazard-specific risk mitigation and integrating CBDRR into government policy and planning. Holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Risk Assessment, an MPA (Master’s in Public Administration) with first class first position, and a B.Sc. (Forestry) degree. Published numerous research articles on community based disaster risk reduction, community resilience, flood risk management, forest fire studies, integrating CBDRR into government policy and programming, including a book titled “Community Based disaster Risk Management for Local Authorities”. Has gained extensive work experiences with reputed organizations such as International Development Research centre (IDRC), UNDP, DIPECHO, Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) and Canadian Red Cross (CRC) in the South and South East Asia.
