    With more than a decade of US military experience, Sidharth “Tony” Handa most recently held a role as captain of a civil affairs unit with the US Army Special Operations. Based in Kunar Province, Afghanistan for a year-long deployment, he collaborated with the Minister of Public Health and the Provincial Governor in creating a province-wide health plan and constructing community health clinics and basic health posts. He also spearheaded the improvement of facilities at the Asadabad Provincial Hospital and assisted the European NGO Aide Medical International in equipping and staffing several clinics. Prior to joining the US Army, Tony Handa held a number of sales positions in the pharmaceutical industry. As sales representative with Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Asheville, North Carolina, for four years and then in Charlotte, North Carolina with Boehringer-Ingelheim for an additional year, he provided educational materials on gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary illnesses and products to healthcare professionals. Sidharth Handa also helped facilitate patient-assistance enrollment initiatives designed to meet local needs.
