Geophysics • Experiences with seismic methods (preliminary investigations for the Geo-electric and Borehole Logging Methods – Projects of GGA) • Experience in workgroup projects with MT, AMT and IP measurements in the Bavarian Alps as well as in the Zillertal (Austria) and in the Taufertal (Italy) and on various occasions at fieldtrips and field experiments as participant, tutor and coordinator • Part of the Ghanaian-German Research Project Lake Bosumtwi (Seismics, Gravimetry, Magnetics) • Part of the AISTEK I-Project by the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar- and Marine Research (marine seismic observations along the Agulhas-Plateau, South Africa, onboard the German research vessel “MS Sonne”) • September to December 2003: "Volunteer in Park" at the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Hawai'i, "Department for Interpretation" (Park-Ranger) Project Management and Science Communication • establish a PR-network of scientists and media representatives • Define communication plans for different geo-scientific research projects • Create and maintain web pages with Earth sciences content • Organization of media-appearances (print, radio and TV) • Organization and project leading for various fieldtrips, field experiments, walks`n talks, guided tours and public events for varying target-groups (students, pupils, lay audiences) • initiation of "walks and talks" with geo-scientific themes (amongst others at the Taunus Climate and Seismologic Observatory) • write and publish press-releases and social media news releases on various geo-scientific topics (for different media such as scientific as well as public journals and newspapers) • representation of Earth Sciences issues at national and international conferences and workshops • conducting geo-scientific E&PO-Projects for various target groups • Part of the exhibition team “Seismology” within the 2002 Exhibition “Abenteuer Geoforschung” (Adventure Geosciences) • organization and management of the “Markt der Geowissenschaften” (Margetplace of Geosciences) at the Börsenplatz in Frankfurt/ Main to enhance the image of Earth sciences (as part of the 90th anniversary of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, 2004) • development of the educational program "Earthquake location" and teaching Seismology at the Anna Schmidt Schule within an experimental geosciences course • Leading the project management for the travelling exhibitions “Unruhige Erde” (Restive Earth), "ELEMTENS" - Pictures of Katia and Maurice Krafft, "Die Erde im Visier" (Target Earth), including submission of applications for external funding, curator for exhibits, concepts for public relations and marketing, supervision of external services, design educational programs with venue staff, concept and realization of the exhibition web-pages • Expand the PR-network between science, politics, public and media • part of the supervision team for research and development within the R&D-Programme GEOTECHNOLOGIEN (amongst others conducting seminaries and workshops, publishing team for the Science Report Series, handling of submitted funding applications) Professional Membership • Since 2008 member of the Public Information Committee (PIC) and the follow-up Outreach Committee (OC) of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) • Since 2011 member of the Fall Meeting Program Committee of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Member of the German Geophysical Society (DGG), the European Geoscience Union (EGU), Euroscience (ES), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the National Association for Interpretation (NAI), the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) and the Section Geo-Didactics within the German Geoscience Union (DGG).
