Slim Essid is an Associate Professor at the Department of Image and Signal Processing-TSI of TELECOM ParisTech and the head of the AAO group. He received the state engineering degree from the École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Tunis in 2001; the M.Sc. (D.E.A.) degree in digital communication systems from the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, Paris, France, in 2002; and the Ph.D. degree from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), in 2005, after completing a thesis on automatic audio classification. He has been involved in various French and European research projects among which are Quaero, Networks of Excellence Kspace and 3DLife, and collaborative projects REVERIE and LASIE. Over the past 4 years, he has collaborated with 6 post-docs and has graduated 5 PhD students; he is currently supervising 5 others. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers with more than 50 distinct co-authors. On a regular basis he serves as a reviewer for various signal processing, audio and multimedia conferences and journals, for instance various IEEE transactions, and as an expert for research funding agencies.
