About

I am a lecturer in the Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. My main research interests are second language vocabulary learning and teaching, second language discourse, and language testing. I am currently conducting research in these areas using corpus data. My PhD research in the Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge (2001-2005) was on formulaic language learning. It examined through psycholinguistic experiments the learning of English idiomatic expressions by adult advanced second language language learners.
