The research activity has been focused on thermo-fluid dynamics and energy systems with low environmental impact for both propulsion and stationary power production. Numerical modeling of traditional and advanced (i.e. hybrid) propulsion systems.

About

Born in Perugia on 09/07/1974. In March 1998 he graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Perugia. In February 2002 he got the PhD in Machinery Engineering. From 2002 to 2007 he has been employed at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" - Dept. Of Mechanical Engineering, first as contract researcher and from 2004 as Assistant Professor in Fluid Machinery. From 2007 to 2012 he has been employed as Associate Professor in Fluid Machinery at the University of Naples "Parthenope" – Department of Technologies. He is now employed as Associate Professor in Fluid Machinery at the University of Tuscia. Stefano Ubertini has (co)authored over 100 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings in the fields of energy, fuel cells science, thermo-fluid dynamics and vehicles propulsion. He recently edited/authored the book “Modeling Solid Oxide Fuel Cells - Methods, Procedures and Techniques”, Springer. He has been actively working on conferences and scientific disclosure activities on fuel cells, energy systems, vehicle propulsors and thrmo-fluid dynamics Since 2005 he is a member of the Executive Council of the Scientific Consortium for the Industrial Research and Engineering (SCIRE) for the development and the industrial application of Computational Fluid Dynamics, since 2010 he is a member of the board of the COMETA Consortium and since 2008 he is a member of the scientific committee of the Honors Center for Italian Universities -H2CU, as representative of the University of Naples “Parthenope”. Since 2008 he is the Secretary of the Associazione Tecnica dell’Automobile (Technical Association of Autmobiles - ATA) for the Campania Region section. He has served as a referee for numerous Journals on fuel cells, energy systems, internal combustion engines and thermo-fluid. He has also served as a referee for several international conference proceedings for SAE and ASME. Associate and Guest Editor of the “Journal of Fuel Cell Science and Technology”, Guest Editor for the Phil. Trans. R. Soc. Lond. A and editor of the “Open Software Engineering Journal”. He has been collaborating an co-directing over 30 research projects on fuel cells, internal combustion engines, hybrid vehicles and thermo-fluid dynamics. He has been invited for seminars and lectures in conferences and universities in Europe and United States. He has been giving seminars and lectures in courses on “Advanced energy systems”, “Fluid Machinery”, “Internal combustion engines” and “Gas dynamics and combustion” for undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering at the Universities of Perugia, Rome “La Sapienza” and Rome “Tor Vergata”. He is currently lecturer of the courses “Industrial Servies Management” for graduate students and “Fluid machinery” for undergraduate students in Management Engineering at the Universities of Naples “Parthenope”. He has co-directed over 30 thesis works in Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental and Mechatronics Engineering at the Universities of Perugia (1999-2001), Roma "Tor Vergata" (2001-2007) and Napoli "Parthenope" (2007- today).
