About

My research is directed towards developing multi-functional adaptive structures that can autonomously alter their configurations and properties in response to external stimuli or control commands. To achieve this goal, I take inspirations from various examples in nature and art, such as plants that are capable of rapid movements and the origami paper folding. The lessons from these examples guide me to exploit the intricate relationships between the system geometric forms and functionalities, and synthesize lightweight structures with tailored and adaptive mechanical properties for aerospace, architectural and many other applications.
