About

My interests are in the genetic epidemiology, evolutionary genetics and comparative genomics. I am interested in genome evolution and its implication to the adaptation and human disease. I am currently involved in several studies focusing on admixture populations, and participated in the analysis of the data that successfully identified candidate disease genes from admixture scans. I have a track record of collecting DNA samples in people across Puerto Rico, including that for the 1,000Genomes project, as well as for an NSF supported population study. My record demonstrates my ability to produce successful research, train students, and publish in peer-reviewed press. I currently administered two different NSF projects, and I have developed a network of key collaborators that will provide additional help.
