I am the David Cockayne Junior Research Fellow for Materials Science at Linacre College, Oxford and the lab manager of the atom probe group at the University of Oxford, concentrating on analysing materials using Atom Probe Tomography, including use of Focused Ion Beam for sample preparation. I run the LEAP 3000X HR instrument and its lab, and prepare and analyse samples for our academic and industrial collaborators across a wide variety of material systems including steel, zirconium, tungsten and uranium alloys for the nuclear energy industry, steel, titanium, nickel and cobalt alloys for aeronautical applications and semiconductors such as diamond, silicon and gallium nitride. I am also a published author of both science fiction and numerous nonfiction articles, including in the photovoltaic industry press. I have a part time role working as managing editor for the Elsevier journal Materials Today Communications, which is a new journal to showcase articles across all of material science.
