About

Tomasz Bajda defended his PhD thesis in 2004 at the Department of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (Poland), under the supervision of Prof. Andrzej Manecki. In 2016 got the position of Professor at the University and since 2012 he has been the Chair of the Mineralogy Department. In 2016 elected to be the vice Dean at the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection (AGH, Kraków) and the chair of the Mineralogical Society of Poland. His interests include widely understood crystal chemistry of cationic and anionic substitutions and their influence on properties of isostructural minerals from the lead apatite series. The scientific aim of the studies included in this subject is determination of crystal chemical reasons for the influence of isomorphic substitutions on systematic changes in the thermodynamic properties in continuous solid solutions of selected minerals. His studies concerning mineral engineering in the aspects of the synthesis functionalized minerals in environmentaly aplications. He widenes his studies concerning sorptive abilities of silicates to include issues concerning anion sorption, mainly chromates, arsenates, phosphates and oyhers on organo-zeolites, organo-smectites and other organo-silicates. He has published 46 papers in the journals from the Thompson list, over 150 scientific reports and conference abstracts. He is experienced as a leader and a founder of significant conferences: “Mineral Sorbents” (2013, 2015, 2017), 10th International Conference on the Occurrence, Properties, and Utilization of Natural Zeolites (ZEOLITE 2018); capable to reach the success of the event with international team.
