Vanessa Csordas-Jenkins studies dramatic literature, film, psychology, and theater history at the New York University (NYU) College of Art Sciences, and she plans to graduate in December of 2014 with her bachelor of arts. Complementing her academic commitments, she has hands-on experience as an intern with Kuhn Projects, a literary agency. Vanessa Csordas-Jenkins' responsibilities included updating contact information, drafting memos, and reading unsolicited submissions. In the past, she served Professor Lila Davachi in the NYU Psychology Department as a research intern. Vanessa Csordas-Jenkins is the Assistant Stage Manager for the “Miami Is Sinking - Pastelito Guerreras,” a play by Thomas Valls. The premier performance is July 12, 2014 at Dixon Place in New York City. When not studying or working, Vanessa Csordas-Jenkins pursues comedy and acting, taking special inspiration from such modern TV performers as Amy Poehler of Parks and Recreation fame and Tina Fey, formerly a star of 30 Rock. In addition, she maintains a sustainable, animal-friendly vegetarian diet. This reflects her concerns about environmental degradation and climate change. Vanessa has also begun a serious study of comedy techniques by enrolling in classes at the Upright Citizens’ Brigade in New York. Workshops feature sketch comedy and improvisation and provide the opportunity to create original material in an interactive environment. Mutual feedback and critique lead to loads of laughs. In terms of support for the community, Csordas-Jenkins recently volunteered as a screenings crew member with the Tribeca Film Festival. The position required her to help usher patrons through the venues and act generally as the festival's face to the public. Her explorations of urban life have recently extended to a study of commuting between Bushwick Brooklyn and Manhattan, linking two boroughs and two ways of life -- life on the L train.
