Dr. Verena Schmid is Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Administration (Production and Operations Management) at the University of Vienna. She holds a master degree in International Business Administration (2003) and Business Informatics (2008). During her Ph.D. (completed in 2007) she focused on the hybridization of exact methods and metaheuristics such as Local Search (LS) and Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) for solving full-truckload problems. She is currently working on location and rich routing problems, health-care related problems under uncertainty and is especially interested in any further combination of the methods involved and the development of new algorithms. Her work has been published in scientifically renowned journals such as Transportation Science, Computers & OR, European Journal of Operational Research, and has been presented at various international conferences.
