He obtained Bachelour (1994) and Master (1997) degrees in chemistry from the University of Latvia, and PhD degree (2013) in mechanical engineering from Riga Technical University (Latvia). Dr. Lapkovsky has an extensive experience in materials engineering, solid waste treatment technologies, and more than 15 years experience in biomass processing technologies for waste-to-energy systems (incineration, pyrolysis). Dr. Lapkovsky is an author (co-author) of more than 40 scientific publications (materials and environmental sciences, processing technologies), co-author of 5 national patents. Dr. Lapkovskis is an independent EC expert/reviewer for FP7/Horizon2020 programmes, currently working on composition of new proposal under EC Horizon 2020 calls (2015-2017) Twinning, Future and Emerging Technologies (FET Open), Fast Track to Innovation (FTI), and Small and Medium Enterprise  promotion (SME Instrument). Education: PhD in Mech eng. (Transport systems) (since 2013) M.Sc. in Chemistry (since 1997), Scientific expertise: Waste-to-energy, pyrolysis, thermolysis of solid wastes (since 1998), Technology transfer. heating equipment manufacturing (since 2001), international engineering/scientific knowledge transfer for development of new environmental solutions (since 2001).
