About

Physicist by training I have always been interested in numerious biological phenomenas and facts. Thus I chose an interdisciplinary (molecular and biological Physics) department for my Bachelors. There I knew about fantastic mechanisms of DNA replication and translation, about various signalling pathways and of course about dangerous deseases caused by cell disfunction. To utilize my mathematical background I joined the group of Prof. Lobanov at MIPT and performed a computational research on blood coagulations system. We developed a model that described how a kidney inflamation may cause a production of blood clots. In 2008 I moved to Edinburgh and started my PhD on modeling of electrostatic interactions between peripheral proteins and a cell membrane in the group of Dr. Goryachev. We have investigated how membrane heterogeneity can affect the lateral dynamics of a membrane-bound proteins. Currently I am very interested in modelling of cell signalling pathways, systems biology, drug discovery and computational biomedicine.
