About

Wiebke Arlt graduated from the University of Cologne Medical School in 1990, followed by training in general medicine, neurology and psychosomatic medicine. From 1994 to 1999 she undertook specialist training in endocrinology & diabetes at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, with Bruno Allolio, followed by a DFG-funded postdoctoral training period at the University of California at San Francisco, in the Molecular Endocrinology Lab, Dept of Paediatrics, with Walter L. Miller. Following an invitation by Paul M. Stewart, she came to the University of Birmingham, UK, in 2002, initially funded by a DFG Heisenberg Senior Research Fellowship and from 2004-2009 by an MRC Senior Clinical Fellowship. She was promoted to Professor of Medicine in 2006 and since 2008 she leads the University of Birmingham Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (CEDAM).
