Biography of William A. Brant III (PhD, MPhil, PGD, BS, BA) Dr. William Brant lectures in the philosophy department at Texas State University in San Marcos. He has currently been awarded a contract to publish his first book called Legal Systems, Mental States and their Sociological Interrelations: A jurisprudential and ideology critique with the Rodopi Publishing Company in New York and Amsterdam. Prof. Brant graduated from Texas State University in 2003 summa cum laude with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in psychology and Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. In 2003 he was awarded a paid internship to study behavioral neuroendocrinology (i.e., the study of brains, hormones and behavior) at the University of Texas Science Center in San Antonio. In 2004 Professor Brant earned a Fulbright grant and studied in Germany at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz. He also taught at the Schloss Gymnasium in Mainz in 2004 and 2005. In Scotland Brant earned a postgraduate diploma in philosophy at St. Andrews University and Stirling University. During the summer of 2007 Brant completed a second Fulbright program in the city of Tryavna, Bulgaria, and he remained in Bulgaria in order to finish his master of philosophy, to teach at the Lebanese School in Sofia in 2007 and 2008, and to complete his doctorate in philosophy at Sofia University. In 2008 William Brant finished his PhD. coursework and began teaching at Texas State University in January 2009 while he completed his dissertation on the theme of sarcasm, sarcastic reasoning, consciousness and their functions in the political realm. Brant graduated with a PhD. in philosophy in January 2011 and is currently an adjunct professor of philosophy establishing online courses for the philosophy department and occupational education department at Texas State University. He is a provider for Professional Development Hours (pdhonline.org) for an ethics course and an adjunct instructor at the University of Maryland University College Europe. William is a black belt in judo and competed in the world championships in karate in New York in December 2006 with Team USA and earned two fifth place awards in self-defense. He is also a member of the Texas State University wrestling and grappling teams. Brant sings and plays guitar.
