About

Dr William Wong is Professor of Human-Computer Interaction and Head, Interaction Design Centre, at Middlesex University's School of Engineering and Information Sciences, London, UK. Trained as an air defense fighter controller in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, he left the military in 1992 as Head, Systems and Communications Operations, HQ RSAF. Since then, his research interest has been in the representation design of information to support human decision making in complex dynamic environments such as emergency ambulance command and control, air traffic control, and hydro-electricity dispatching. Recipient of over £4.5 mil in grants, he is currently Project Coordinator for the 13-partner FP7 CRISIS project; deputy PI for a 10-partner EPSRC Making Sense project; and Consortium Coordinator for the 5-partner UK Visual Analytics Consortium, funded by both the US and UK governments. He has also been the Principal Investigator for projects funded by EUROCONTROL’s CARE INO III programme, and the USAF’s European Office of Aerospace Research and Development, and has also received funding from the Australian Research Council as well as the New Zealand government.
