Mireille Yichieh Shih is now a PhD student processing her dissertation under the supervision of Professor Jan Blanc in the Department of the History of Art, University of Geneva since September 2012. Her research focuses on disseminations and exchanges between China and Europe from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century under the diagram of the East Indian Companies, particularly those of Britain, Netherlands and France. She is now in her dissertation of compiling a catalogue of European clay portrait figures made in Canton China during the 18th century, which is rarely studied in the field of China Trade Art. Her cooperations with the Scandinavian and the Nordic museums, including several art societies and researchers, lead the objets from family souvenirs into unique symbols among the acculturation between the East and the West.
