This article describes the research methodology used for the construction of a Three-Dimensional Virtual Environment aimed for children with Down syndrome, in order to favor the development of reading and writing skills in the Pre-syllabic 1, Pre-syllabic 2, syllabic and Alphabetical progress levels. A pedagogical and technical work-team was formed which defined eleven scenarios with pedagogical activities articulated to logographic and phonetic literacy periods. We chose a representative sample of six children for performing diagnostic and tests using the virtual reality tool, this showed us the current status and the improvement in the learning process.
