Abstract

Acidities of several alcs. and H2O in Me2SO decreased in the order MeOH > EtOH > Me2CHOH > H2O > Me3COH. The acidities were calcd. by detg. equil. consts. between the indicators Ph3CH and Ph2CH2 and the solvent Me2SO and by taking into account the leveling effect of the solvent, homohydrogen bonding, and ion pairing.
