Abstract

This paper provides an update of the discussions of the NATOPERATIONS/AIRWORTHINESS (OPS/AIR) SUB-GROUP into Altimetry System Error Stability. It was concluded that Altimetry System Error can drift and that the probable cause is the drift characteristics of the pressure sensors. The group proposed to publish a joint letter from FAA-JAA/EASA to review OEM data packages. The letter will address error budget for Air Data Computers and continued airworthiness. The group recommend the continuation of 24 month on-aircraft checks with RVSM applicable tolerances.
