Abstract

Renal transplantation is the preferred therapeutic option for patients with end-stage renal disease. Survival rates are much higher in patients who receive a transplant. Patients with renal failure have significant concomitant medical conditions, such as cardiovascular disease. This article provides an overview of the important issues to be considered in patients undergoing renal transplant, and discusses the anaesthetic management of these patients. © 2007 Acta Anaesthesiol Scand.
