An article is presented that responds to an article by J.E. Dutton, L.M. Roberts, and J. Bednar on identity construction in the workplace. The article describes the pervasiveness of work as a life domain and the value of positive work identities, noting that the article neglected to mention the exploitative nature of work and the relational qualities of positivity. The article also discusses managerial intervention, working conditions, and leadership. Information is provided on organizational resistance, management, and work environments as well.
